Our Patient's Most Common Questions...
                            Answered

Q:  Why is CHIROPRACTIC becoming more popular?
A:  Chiropractic is different from traditional western medicine care.  We
are a bloodless, drugless profession.  Many of our patients like that
about us because we help them avoid drugs and surgeries at all
costs.  Some of our patients come to us as last resort after
experiencing little help or hope from other health care practitioners.
As a doctor of chiropractic, it is standard for us to look at an individual
as a "whole".  We find the cause of the problem rather than masking
the symptoms like medications do.  A study performed in 1998,
published in the New England Journal of Medicine,
reported chiropractic as being the most used non-medical
      treatment (15.7%) (Astin 1998).

Q:  What can CHIROPRACTIC help?

A:  Headaches

        Neck pain

        Midback pain

        Low back pain

        Sciatica

Numbness or tingling in arms or legs

        Arm and leg pain

        Facet syndrome

        Spinal instability

        Postural imbalances

        Sports injuries

        Disc problems

        Whiplash

        Carpel tunnel syndrome

        Fibromyalgia symptoms

        Upper cross syndrome

        Lower cross syndrome

        Infantile colic

        And more!!

Q:  Is CHIROPRACTIC expensive?
A:  No.  A review of data was collected and reported in
the Journal of American Health Policy in 1992 (from over 2
million  chiropractic patients in the U.S.) stating that "chiropractic
users tend to have substantially lower total health care costs"
and "chiropractic care reduces the use of both physician
and hospital care" (Stano, Ehrhart, and Allenburg 1992, 43).

Q:  Once I go, do I have to keep going for the rest of my life?
A:  No.  However long you decide to benefit from chiropractic care
is completely up to you.  Many patients decide to continue with
periodic check-ups after enjoying their initial relief to help keep them
in good health and to prevent future problems.

Q:  Is CHIROPRACTIC safe for kids and babies?
A:  Yes.  Many babies and children benefit from chiropractic care.  Even if
a child does not have "pain" there may be underlying spinal problems
we call subluxations.  Subluxations can be caused by the actual
birthing process (which may be very stressful to a baby), a fall on the
playground, a bump on the head, or an injury playing sports.  We
use a very gentle pediatric adjusting technique in our office that
        proves to be very effective.

Q:  Can CHIROPRACTIC care help when I'm pregnant?
A:  Yes, chiropractic care is safe for both the pregnant mother and the
fetus.  A hormone, called Relaxin, is released when a women is
pregnant.  This hormone allows for relaxation of ligaments and
muscles to occur.  Because of this, far less force is needed to correct
the spinal segment.  We use special adjustive positions and
techniques to allow for comfort and avoid pressure on the abdomen.
Many women experience back pain during pregnancy due to the
many changes occuring in their body.  Studies show chiropractic as
being safe and effective in reducing the "aches and pains" of
        pregnancy.

Q:  How do I know if I have a SUBLUXATION?
A:  You may have a subluxation (spinal mis-alignment) and not even
know it.  Similar to early tooth decay or cancer, subluxations may be
present for a period of time before you start to feel the effects of it.
Chiropractors specialize in finding and correcting spinal
        misalignments.

Q:  What causes SUBLUXATIONS?
A:  STRESS!!  There are three main forms of stress:
        1. Physical Stress- accidents, falls, improper lifting, repetative
motions, poor posture, muscle imbalances, etc.
        2. Emotional Stress- depression, stressful job or home life,
changes in daily living, anger, greif, fear, etc.
        3. Chemical Stress- pollutants we breathe or eat, toxins, alcohol,
caffeine, cigarette smoke, poor diet, drugs, etc.
